Matthew Davies, MBA student, IE Business
School
Matthew comes from a background of teaching and teacher
training. He worked for the British Council, the UK's
official cultural relations organisation, for 10 years
in Saudi Arabia, Japan, Italy, Syria and Qatar, where
he managed the local teaching centre. He is a strong advocate
of the use of technology in education both as a teacher
and a learner. He is currently enrolled on the Global
MBA programme from IE Business School in Madrid and is
due to graduate in December 2011. |

Nelson Fernandes has significant
experience in international capital markets as business
developer. He holds an engineering degree from ESIEA Paris
and an executive MBA from HEC. He began his career at
Cap Gemini as organisation consultant.
Since 1996, he hold various international responsibilities
at BNP PARIBAS such as regional IT manager, corporate
development senior manager involving in mergers and acquisition
as well as partnership deals and leading integration programs.
He then involved in the geographical expansion of BNP
PARIBAS Securities Services in opening fully fledged banks
in CEE and
Asian countries.
Since 2008, he is the Turkey country manager of the Securities
services business launched in 2008 at TEB together with
BNP PARIBAS
Securities Services. |

James Gancos, General Manager, W
Istanbul
James Gancos was born in San Diego, California. He graduated
with honors from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science
in Economics and from Harvard Business School with a Master
in Business Administration. Mr. Gancos began his career
at Ernst & Young's consulting practice in New York
where he worked with Fortune 500 clients in various industries,
including Travel, Financial Services, Advertising, and
Insurance. Mr. Gancos joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts
in 2004 as Director of Operations for the North America
Division. He performed strategic, financial, and operations
analysis support for the division and reported directly
to the divisional president. Subsequently, Mr. Gancos
has held property leadership positions as Hotel Manager
of the Sheraton Kauai Resort and Hotel Manager of the
Sheraton Seattle. He was most recently the General Manager
of the 2,500 room Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, A
Sheraton Resort in Las Vegas. While at Starwood, Mr. Gancos
has been actively involved in the company's environmental
stewardship initiatives. He invented the "Make a
Green Choice" program which has been implemented
in all Sheratons and Westins in North America and is now
being rolled out globally. Mr. Gancos has been the General
Manager of W Istanbul since February 2010. |

Fedon Hatzakis, Fedon Hatzakis was born in Istanbul
in 1966 from Greek parents. His father, John Hatzakis
is a well-known businessman in the shipping community
of Turkey and partner in one of the oldest shipping agencies
in the market with a history of more than a century.
After finishing basic education in the Greek High School,
he continues studies in Bosphorous University (ex-Robert
College) graduating as a Civil Engineer in 1989. Later
on, he obtained a Master's Degree in Management with
specialisation in Finance and European Union from Boston
University.
His professional career started in 1991 with a Management
Trainee program in Banque Nationale de Paris (Athens)
where after working in different departments such as
the Commercial (imports-exports) and Credit he finally
joined the Corporate Banking division as a Credit Analyst
with area of responsibility corporate and shipping clients
as well as project financing.
In 1994, he has been offered a position in Deutsche
Bank (Head Office in Frankfurt) as Country Manager for
Greece, Hungary, Romania and Cyprus. His task was to
co-ordinate all business/risk issues towards the above
mentioned countries.
In 1997 he returned to Greece as the Deputy Manager
Risk in National Westminster Bank with responsibility
for credit risk issues of all Greek corporate and financial
institutions for the group NatWest globally.
Following the sale of NatWest of Greece he joined ABN
AMRO Bank as County Risk Executive. However after the
sale of all Greek retail network he joint Societe General
as Country Head of Risk..
Following an offer from EFG Eurobank to take the position
of Country Risk/Credit Officer in Turkey, he returned
to Istanbul and keeps this position since than.
During his professional career Fedon Hatzakis continued
his education attending various seminars in Oxford,
Frankfurt, Paris and Athens mainly on financial products
and markets.
Fedon Hatzakis is fluent in five European languages
ranging from English, French, German, Turkish to Greek
and has basic knowledge of Arabic.
His personal interests are political/economic history,
sailing, white water rafting, skiing, theatre and basketball.
He is also a fanatic traveller with widespread journeys
throughout Europe and North America and expeditions
in Spitzbergen (North Pole).

Giuseppe Totino, is
a Professional Certified Coach and Trainer,
ACC credentialed with the International Coach Federation
(ICF). He is also a Professional Facilitator,
member of the International Association of Facilitators
(IAF). He is a Nonviolent Communication
(NVC) practitioner and trainer, and values the Appreciative
Inquiry approach in working with clients, as
well as the findings of Positive Psychology. A
member of the EnCompass Global Consulting Network, Giuseppe
is both a coach and a facilitator for the United
Nations Secretariat Management Development Program worldwide.
He coaches private Clients and Executives, on both personal
and business topics, specially if related to personal
or relational conflicts. He teaches Leadership,
Coaching, Communication and Conflicts
Management at University undergraduate and postgraduate
MBA students, both at Yeditepe University and at Sabancı
University in Istanbul, and in workshops and classes internationally.
He has also served on the Faculty of the International
Coach Academy (Australia) where he run the Executive Coaching
Community of Practice.He is Board Member of ICF Turkey
and the ICF Conference Educational Steering Committee
Member for the second consecutive year. Before shifting
his professional focus to Coaching and Training, Giuseppe
engaged in a corporate career for 11 year. He started
in the UK, when he was headhunted to join the international
team of a multinational telecommunications company. From
there he pursued an international career that led him
to work among people with diverse backgrounds and cultures,
across several nations. His experience includes
launching the London-based operations of an international
financial group, advising FTSE 250 at a 'Big 4' Consulting
Company, becoming a UK Chartered Tax Advisor and setting
up his own organization in the fashion business active
over two continents where he served as the CEO, before
becoming a Professional Coach. Giuseppe holds the following
academic qualifications: Master of Laws (L.L.M.) from
the University of London (UK) - Intercolelgiate program
LSE, QMW, KCU and Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Marketing
Management for the Service Industry from Trento Business

Matt Turega, HSBC Bank, Strategic
Change Manager - Finance
Matt is a Banking and Finance professional who has worked
in multiple countries during the last 9 years with HSBC.
Matt has held different head-office roles both in his
native country of the UK, as well as overseas roles in
India, Czech Republic, Poland, and now in Turkey where
he has been since June 2010. Matt has held a variety of
positions within Finance departments and previously within
Marketing Analysis. Outside of work Matt has been actively
involved in different charities and NGO's, and is currently
working with a charity supporting disabled children in
Istanbul. He enjoys travel, experiencing new cultures,
and trying to learn new languages. He is also a keen sportsmen
and regularly plays football and goes to the gym when
time allows. |
